All about our fully refurbished sweepers
A floor sweeper is often one of the hardest working machines in a facility. Regularity of use, dusty environments, and heavy debris loads take their toll. A properly refurbished sweeper can restore that performance without the cost of buying new, provided the refurbishment has been done thoroughly. Here is what that process involves and what you should expect.
What is a fully refurbished sweeper?
A fully refurbished sweeper is a used pedestrian or rideon machine that has been professionally stripped back and rebuilt to a high operational standard. It is not a used machine that has been swept out, serviced, and put back on the shelf. Genuine refurbishment involves dismantling the machine, replacing everything that has worn, and reassembling it to a standard the machine can be warranted against.
Sweepers accumulate wear in predictable ways: brushes, filters, drive systems, and debris hoppers take the brunt of daily use. A proper refurbishment addresses all of it systematically. The result is a machine that performs reliably from day one and continues to do so throughout its renewed working life.
How do we select a sweeper for refurbishment?
Before any refurbishment work starts, the machine is assessed in full. The first thing we look at is the chassis and structural frame. Sweepers can take significant knocks in busy warehouse and manufacturing environments, and frame damage is not something that can be worked around. If the structure is compromised, the machine is not a refurbishment candidate.
Beyond the frame, we assess the traction and brush drive motors, the hopper and filtration system, the control electronics, and the overall condition of the main assemblies. Nilfisk machines feature heavily in our refurbishment programme, given our approved supplier status and the quality of the product range. Parts availability and build quality are both factors that make them strong candidates.
Machines we cannot confidently rebuild to a warranted standard are not taken on. The selection process is as important as the refurbishment itself.
How do we refurbish a sweeper?
The machine is stripped to the chassis. Panels come off, assemblies are separated, and every component is inspected individually. As with all our refurbishments, this is a rebuild process rather than an enhanced service.
The work carried out on every machine includes:
Full assessment and replacement of all worn mechanical parts: wheels, drive components, brush drives, seals, and fasteners showing fatigue or corrosion
Electrical system inspection and repair or replacement, covering wiring looms, switches, motor controllers, and operator controls
New batteries fitted throughout. Not reconditioned or retained after testing, but new batteries to the manufacturer’s specification
New main brushes and side brushes fitted as standard
New filters fitted, including main filter cartridges and any secondary filtration elements
Hopper and debris management systems cleaned, checked, and repaired or replaced where needed
Full reassembly, followed by operational testing under load conditions
Bodywork and panels refinished where appropriate
No machine leaves without passing a final operational check. It will have a minimum 2-hour run test under normal operating conditions to ensure quality & consistency of the refurbished machine.
What can you expect from a fully refurbished sweeper?
A CFM North East refurbished sweeper is a machine stripped to its chassis and rebuilt with new components in every area that matters. Here is what that means in practice:
Chassis and main frame confirmed structurally sound before refurbishment began
All worn parts replaced, not patched or adjusted
New batteries fitted as standard, covered by a 12 month battery warranty
New main and side brushes fitted
New filters fitted throughout
Full machine warranty covering parts and labour
Ready to work on delivery with no initial service required
The expectation should be a machine that sweeps properly, handles its designed debris load, and does so consistently. Not a machine that performs acceptably for a few weeks before issues start to emerge.
Financial and cost benefits of a fully refurbished sweeper vs new
New commercial sweepers vary considerably in price. A pedestrian machine for a smaller facility might start from £2,000–£3,000, while a rider sweeper for a large warehouse or outdoor area can reach £15,000–£25,000 or more for a capable model. That is a meaningful capital commitment, particularly when the machine needs to be replaced or added to a fleet.
A fully refurbished sweeper from CFM North East is typically priced at 40–60% of the equivalent new machine cost. With a full warranty and new batteries, brushes, and filters included, the performance and reliability case stands up. It is not simply a cheaper machine, it is a more economical route to the same outcome.
Consumable running costs are comparable to a new machine. New brushes and filters are the main ongoing expenditure on any sweeper, and those have been replaced as part of the refurbishment. Battery costs, which are often a significant concern with used machines, are addressed by the new battery fit and covered by the warranty in the first year.
For businesses that need to clean large floor areas on a budget, or that want to equip multiple sites without the capital outlay of buying everything new, a refurbished sweeper fleet is often the practical answer.
Why choose a CFM North East fully refurbished sweeper?
We have been supplying, servicing, and maintaining industrial sweepers for over 25 years. We know the machines well: the ones that are worth rebuilding, the ones that are not, and the work required to bring a worn machine back to reliable operational condition. That experience is not something that can be replicated by a company that buys in used equipment and applies the word “refurbished” loosely.
As an approved Nilfisk supplier, we have access to genuine parts and the technical knowledge to use them correctly. Our refurbishments are documented, thorough, and backed by warranties we are confident in because we know exactly what has been done to the machine.
Every refurbished sweeper we supply includes:
A full machine warranty
12 months battery warranty
New main and side brushes fitted as standard
New filters fitted throughout
Ongoing after sales support from a team based in the North East
We cover Yorkshire, the North and beyond. When something needs attention, you are dealing with people who know the machine and can get to you, not a national call centre that logs a job and hopes someone turns up.
